Circus in Christchurch

Rolling into Christchurch felt like accomplishing a major milestone in the trip; something that we've been looking to since December and for 1 very important reason, Nitro Circus was in town! Now if you don't know who or what Nitro Circus is, to put it briefly, its basically anything that you imagine with an engine or wheels being jumped, flipped and tricked in everywhere possible, with Travis Pastrana leading it all, a big hero of mine for a while.

We arrived on the 11th but the circus wasn't in town until the night of the 16th so we had a few days to kill, something we're getting pretty good at. We spent Friday cruising the city, attempting not to get lost and seeing some of the city. Saturday was spent at the races at the track watching super-bikes race at over 200km, the sound there was pretty amazing. Trevor was loving it especially, being a bike fanatic and all. Sunday, crap, what did we do on Sunday? I honestly can't recall, haha, maybe I should be more efficient on this whole blog thing.
Just Lovin' It!
Anyways, Monday was dedicated to some skating at the arena, or ice stadium here in NZ. And yes, you read correctly, skating...on ice. The second time of this trip so far, a sweet little reminder of home, but the arena wasn't as good compared to Dunedin, or back home. Tuesday was spent killing the first few hours at the beach, perfecting the man tan. Then it was off to the downtown corridor to wait in a line with hundreds of Nitro Circus fans to meet n' greet the crew at a local bike shop. We waited the better part of 2 hours and were just able to make it in the store by the skin of our teether, literally the last people to be let in. Once we were in I was let down to see that my hero, T.P. wasn't there signing posters and hats, this little kid was let down. But not for long, I was stoked to find Cam McCaul there, a mountain bike hero of mine, so I let him take the place of T.P. and he signed my hat while we talked about Smithers and biking momentarily. I may or may not have been extremely gitty.

The next day was again, spent at the beach then we headed down for the main event at AMI Stadium in Christchurch, the even we waited 2 months to see and being let down was not an option. The 3 hour show was pretty nuts, seeing the tricks live that we've only seen on t.v. and computer screen was awesome. Especially when it's the pros that you grow up following and talking about every time the subject is brought up. The night was a thrill for each of us. We left Christchurch that night stoked on the next week ahead, we have a few big plans and were planning meeting a few friends along the way.
