Not a bad view for a summer camp eh? Then again most of NZ is like this... |
The following day we were able to do some customization to the van, added a new layer of storage just above the van where we can now keep our food and the surfboard handy. It turned out pretty sweet-as even with no tools. We returned to be informed that Jess was able to talk to one of her friends and take us out to their summer camp to go kayaking on the lake and scout out some glow warms. Something that may sound kind of average or lame back home to some friends, but those couple hours on the lake, at night, watching the canyon light up with these tiny green worms. It was something out of the movies, like avatar, and we were in Pandora. It was so cool, silence all around, man, an awesome way to spend a night. I didn't take my camera with me, for fear of bailing in the middle of the lake and wrecking it or worse, losing it. But I sure wish you all could see and experience what we saw.

They got a waterslide there that puts Rough Acres to shame... |
The next day we said our farewells for it was time for not only us, but also Jess to leave. She is heading back to the great white north for the holidays while we were moving on to Rotorua. A couple days of chilling with an old friend and seeing some pretty cool things was just what I've almost come to expect from this country, and so far, it looks like it has no intentions of letting us down!
