A New Voyage Emerges on the Horizon
WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS? Over the past three years I have been working towards a bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Studies from Prairie Bible Institute. During this time I am overwhelmed by the support of people like you. My desire is to serve God and His people in any capacity He deems for me. As my life unfolds and my calling concentrates on the material poor in the majority world, my passion only intensifies. Entering my graduation year I have been granted a wonderful opportunity to lead a group of five of my peers around the world. This global practicum offered by Prairie will give me college credit, leadership experience, vast cultural exposure, and training in long-term sustainable development projects. I am extremely excited about this program and humbled by this possibility to see what God’s people are doing around the world. This voyage is divided into two parts: (1) travelling from Europe to Southeast Asia and into India observing and participating in different Christian ministries, (2) a six month internship in the area of development in the majority world. My desire for this time is to become more versed in development theory and have my compassion for the underprivileged increase dramatically. Also, I hope to learn some of the issues surrounding poverty alleviation and gain skills to counter these challenges. With this experience behind me I plan to pursue a master’s degree in International Development and continue into a lifelong career combating hunger and material poverty throughout our world.
