Quick stop on the scenic route to Milford Sound. |
Going to Milford Sound was something that I was looking forward to as much as Queenstown and Wanaka. I had some good picture of what I would experience after seeing photos online and what not. Being there it's probably safe to say that we had a more enjoyable experience then the majority of visitors.
We arrived on Friday afternoon and found a small lodge to camp at for the night and payed our fees, which doesn't happen often, and had our first shower and shave in 2+ weeks. Then hit the hay early because of 5am wakeup call for the kayak experience in Milford Sound.

One of my favourite shots of the trip so far. |
Saturday morning was the earliest we've risen all trip, but it was well worth it. The moon was out and the sky was still, we made it onto the lake by 7 and were off. The views out there were pretty spectacular to say the least; we made it 20 some odd kilometres out to the Tasman Sea but lunch and from there the boat hauled us back in. Tired and semi sore from the lack of activity in the past 2 months, but stoked we saw Milford Sound a different way. After that we were off again and heading inland, but not before a flat tyre gave us a 20 minute delay. Is it consider a delay if you have no destination in mind and its just about the journey?
